From Humble Beginnings... The original Image Lighting Design company was formed in June 1992 as commercial lighting designers and manufacturers. It began in a modest way, trading as a partnership that had gained considerable previous experience in lighting through research and development work on low energy lighting for the leisure industry. The business grew rapidly and in 1996 moved into purpose designed premises at Northwich, Cheshire which were more suitable for the then more significant sales, commercial and manufacturing activities being undertaken. The business continued to flourish and grow within the commercial lighting and contracting sector. In 2001, and in common with many others, the business encountered trading difficulties because of downturns in the leisure industry brought about by the foot and mouth epidemic in the UK and the tragic events of 11th September in New York and late that year the partnership changed to a limited company and became Image Lighting and Design Limited. In June 2002, Image Lighting and Design Limited was acquired by The Lighting Group of companies. The change of ownership and trading name to Image Lighting (Manchester) Ltd., resulted in a complete overhaul of management and re-location to the present Bolton factory site. Image Lighting (Manchester) Ltd., operating as an independant business centre, now draws on the considerable group resource and management services structure of a 150 strong workforce. A dedicated design team and some specialist manufacturing facilities reinforce existing Image Lighting resources and adds flexibility and efficiency to the operation.
